Nathan willard

I was raised in Iowa as the youngest of three by my mom, a public health nurse, and my dad, a university administrator and long-time Air Force Reservist. After school and work took me away, a call to ministry brought me back as pastor of Ankeny UCC in 2013. In my life I've been: a terrible wrestler but a decent referee, an Eagle Scout and a drum major, a full-time father and a seller of software on three continents. Now I'm a pastor, husband to an Iowa transplant, and parent to two kids in Ankeny public schools. Living and working in Ankeny, I've watched families and businesses grow, but I've also seen ways we could better serve each other. So I'm running to build neighborhoods where everyone belongs. On the City Council, I'll work to:

  • Make it easier to walk and bike to school, parks, and businesses

  • Address our workforce shortage by making it easier for workers to live, work, and spend money in Ankeny

  • Leverage our resources to help our great local nonprofits provide needed human services

  • Keep the budget discipline necessary to pay for all the infrastructure a growing city needs
